Euclid Library Introduces New “3 For Me” Card For Kids

Euclid Public Library located at 631 E. 222nd St., debuts its new “3 For Me” card today!  With the card, kids 12 and under can borrow up to three books from the children’s department without the signature of a parent or guardian.

Children can still acquire a regular library card with the signature of a parent or guardian, but the “3 for Me” card ensures that all children are able to access library materials.

“We want to make certain that there are no roadblocks for a child who wants to read,” says Rebecca McFarland, community relations coordinator. With the proliferation of nontraditional families and working parents, many children find themselves unable to acquire a regular library card due to the lack of an adult signature.

Children 12 and under must still provide a date of birth and contact information when applying for the card, though identification is not required. The card limits users to children’s books, but the maximum fine is also limited. Late fees cannot exceed $15, plus costs for lost or damaged items. Replacement cards are $1. The library can provide a full list of provisions and restrictions.

The premiere of the new card coincides with National Library Week, which runs April 14-20. For further information about the new card, call 216-261-5300, ext. 450.

Hours for the Euclid Public Library are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The library is closed Sundays from May to October.
